I recall that when I first started producing Roots and Branches in 1989 I was still cutting a stencil on a typewriter and passing it through a gestetner. I progressed by using a cut and paste method which a local printer produced on a primitive copier. These first issues were poorly designed and the photos hardly recognisable.
Then came the photocopier. I used to paste up each page and take them to the local library where I photocopied, folded and stapled them myself. At last came the computer allowing better design, the scanner producing finer photographs and finally the cd which allowed me to take the computer record direct to the printer.
In 2006 after a short break in publication I began the new series of Roots and Branches of today. Each issue is sent free to members twice a year.
All are still available at £2.00 each + postage though members of the Society can obtain back issues at a reduced price.
